Aliran Tenaga Dalam
Rich and Ivonne share their knowledge of Kejawen, the mystical tradition of Java. With over 30 years of experience, they offer gentle guidance with their Foundation Stichting Aliran, where they teach and carry this subtle, ancestral wisdom forward. Their work supports others in strengthening their tenaga dalam, the inner life force that flows from within.
Here, they offer a glimpse of their teachings.
Some facts about Kejawen
-
✺
In Kejawen, life is in close connection with the cosmos, ancestral spirits, and the unseen world. It is like a dance between the visible and invisible realms.
-
✺
Kejawen today is still alive, though often quietly practiced. It lives on through rituals, ancestral offerings, and healing practices. However, it's not always visible in modern Javanese society due to the dominance of formal (mandatory) religions and Western influence. Some aspects are fading, but slowly, young Indonesians are now rediscovering Kejawen as a source of identity, spiritual depth, and cultural pride.
-
✺
Kejawen is a way of life deeply rooted in Javanese culture. It blends elements of Hinduism, Buddhism, Animism, and Sufism (Islamic mysticism), focussing on inner harmony, connection with nature, and living in balance.
Aliran Tenaga Dalam
Richard and Ivonne guide you through key elements of Kejawen, the Javanese mystical tradition. You’ll begin by creating a Wadah offering, a sacred space to honour your ancestors and invite their presence. From there, you’ll be introduced to bernafas tenaga dalam, a breathwork practice to strengthen your inner life force. Lastly, you’ll explore kuda-kuda, a grounding posture to deepen your connection with rasa, your intuitive, felt sense.

Tenaga dalam: inner strength
Tenaga Dalam is the Javanese concept of inner strength, a subtle life force cultivated through breath, focus, and spiritual practice. It is not a force of muscle, but of spirit: a current that flows from within.
