Symbols within sajen
In this video
In this video, we are invited into the layered philosophy behind sacred offerings in the form of flowers and takir, leaf-wrapped gifts of intention. Kromo DJawi explains the meaning behind Kembang Setaman, Kembang Telon, and the use of colour, petals, and even eggs as a reflection of life, ancestry and rebirth.
Each element carries its own spirit: the white and yellow rice, the pitons made of seven flowers, the egg as a symbol of creation. In Javanese tradition, these offerings are not just rituals, they are reminders. Of our place in the world, our connection to others, and our shared responsibility to honour life, even in death.
